What goes in a foundation portfolio
Not your best work: a clear record of how you look, try and choose.
A foundation portfolio is not a gallery of finished pieces. It shows how you look at things, what you try, and how you choose.
In the first three weeks you fill a sketchbook with drawings from life and shoot one set of photographs on a theme. Both go in, mistakes included.
At the end of week three you choose one print with your tutor. It opens the portfolio, and everything after it builds on the way of looking it shows.
By week twelve the portfolio is done. Nobody has to build it in a hurry the night before an application.
